Introduction

At Keyplay, we understand that effectively categorizing companies is crucial, yet challenging with current methods.

Traditional frameworks like NAICS, which power many older data platforms, and self-reported data on platforms like LinkedIn, often prove unreliable. Our analysis suggests that these methods offer accuracy comparable to a random guess, which is not sufficient for our sophisticated needs.

Features of Our Industry Categorization

Data-Driven Categories: By leveraging Keyplay data and state-of-the-art AI models, we ensure our categories are reflective of real industry landscapes.

High Accuracy: Our categorization bypasses the inaccuracies of self-reported data and outdated frameworks, providing you with reliable and actionable insights.

Primary and Secondary Categories

We support both primary and secondary categories in the app. Primary categories can be thought of as the high level industry classification Keyplay provides and includes Saas & Cloud, Fintech, Media & Entertainment, etc.

Secondary categories are sub-categories of the primary categories, and can help you narrowly focus on specific types of accounts within a primary category. For example, AI is a sub-category of Saas & Cloud.

For a full list of our primary and secondary categories, see our About Our Data doc.

How to Use Keyplay Categories

Filtering by Category in your SAM: Easily filter company lists by specific categories to find exactly what you're looking for in your SAM definition. You can both include and exclude specific categories.

Discovering New Accounts: Use category filters to explore new accounts and potential leads that fit your target market profile.

Use as signals in your scoring model: You can also include categories as signals in your scoring model to make accounts score either higher/lower in specific categories.

Filter in your CRM:

We also send over the primary and secondary categories as fields in our standard field mapping in our CRM integration. You can use the fields to build lists, filter, and build reports directly in your CRM.
