The Recruiting Velocity signal is used to indicate how fast a company is hiring against other companies in its cohort.
First, we assess the Open Roles/Total Headcount field. This calculation takes the number of open roles Keyplay identified and divides it by the total employee count, giving us a relative assessment of how aggressively an account is hiring.
Next, we compare the accounts open roles/total headcount score to other accounts in its cohort. To do this, we divide the Open roles/Total Headcount value by a Maximum Value for each cohort. The Maximum Value is set at the 96th-98h percentile for each cohort based on our index of tech companies. We adjust down from the true maximum value due to extreme outliers present.
These are the max open roles/total headcount percentage used(excluding outliers) associated with each cohort:
Bucket | Max Value Used |
1-25 | 200% |
26-50 | 100% |
51-100 | 50% |
101-250 | 30% |
251-500 | 25% |
501-1000 | 20% |
1001-2500 | 12% |
2501-5000 | 8% |
5001+ | 5% |
For example, if a company has 32 open roles and 158 employees,
Open Roles / Total Headcount is 20 (32/158 * 100)
Recruiting Velocity is 40 (20/50 * 100)
π‘ Keyplay will assess the median growth percentages periodically against new data and adjust values accordingly
